UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe member MC Dela Cruz admitted that he got surprised that his team was announced as the third place winners in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition.
"Hindi po namin talaga in-expect na mananalo kami [ng second runner-up]," Dela Cruz told Dugout.
After the announcement, however, he felt great that his team returned to the podium after a few years of failing. Mas masarap yung feeling," he described.
Asked on how Salinggawi, tied with the UP Pep Squad for the most number of cheerdance titles with eight each, succeeded, Dela Cruz said, "May tiwala po ako sa group namin.... Di naman po kami pababayaan ng mga coaches namin."
Dela Cruz and his teammates now eye for an unprecedented ninth title next year.
"Sobrang paghahandaan po namin next year kasi ayaw po naming mapahiya sa UST comminty," he said.
