Perpetual Help rallies late to trounce Arellano

SAN JUAN, MM--Perpetual Help returned to its winning ways with a 76-66 win against Arellano in their NCAA match on Thursday night at the FilOil Flying V Arena.

The Altas, who trailed for most of the game, bounced back late in the third quarter and regained the lead thanks to a 7-0 run with 5:46 remaining in the game.

The Chiefs tried to claw back, mounting a 5-1 mini-rally to trim the lead to three, 64-61, with 4:18 left.

Perpetual Help finally pulled away for good as Bright Akhuetie built a 12-2 run almost single-handed to stretch the lead to double-digits and never looked back.

Akhuetie finished with 31 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Scottie Thompson added a double-double of 11 markers and 16 boards along with seven assists and a steal for the Altas, who bounced back from back-to-back defeats.

Jio Jalalon made 14 points but was held scoreless in the fourth quarter and to only two in the third as the Chiefs now lost two straight after winning the last four.
