Ginebra scores first win of the season with squeaker over ROS

PASAY—Ginebra needed a late fourth quarter push to hand Rain Or Shine it's first loss of the PBA Philippine Cup with an 81-74 victory at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday night.

The Barangay slowed the Elasto Painters in the dying moments of the game to bounce back from their loss to the TNT KaTropa last week.

After Ginebra took control of the first half, ROS blasted off in the third quarter, burying 26 points to take a 62-58 lead. The team would extend the lead to six, 70-64, with 9:04 left in the fourth before weathering any Ginebra mini-run a little later.

The Barangay then scored the game's last 11 points, shutting the E-Painters down in the final 4:03 to steal the win.

Japeth Aguilar led Ginebra with 23 points, 13 rebounds, one assist, and one block. Joe Devance added 13 points, eight rebounds, and two assists.

Raymond Almazan had 13 points, 15 rebounds, and one block for ROS.
