SMB draws first blood against TNT in semis

QUEZON CITY—San Miguel took the first win of its PBA Philippine Cup semifinal series with TNT through a 111-98 whipping at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday night.

The Beermen waxed hot early on, going up, 32-16, at the end of the first quarter.

The KaTropa came to within as close as six in some points later in the game, but the Beermen held on.

Marcio Lassiter dropped four triples en route to a team-high 22 points for SMB, which had two more players with 20 or more while burying 16 treys out of 26 overall.

Jayson Castro tallied 27 markers, while Kelly Williams turned back time by adding 24 for TNT.

Game 2 is set for Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
