SMB opens finals clash against Ginebra with blowout win

PASAY—San Miguel quickly deposed Ginebra, 109-82, to draw first blood in the PBA Philippine Cup finals at the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday night.

The Beermen blew the game wide open early on, unleashing a 16-0 run in the first quarter to take the lead for good, even stretching it to as high as 36.

Chris Ross and June Mar Fajardo each tallied 17 points, while Alex Cabagnot and Gabby Espinas each added 16 for SMB.

Chris Ellis made 13 markers for Ginebra.

The series shifts to the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena for Game 2 on Sunday night at 6:30 p.m.
