BACOLOD -- All it needed was a first minute goal by Iain Ramsay to set the tone of the match as Ceres Negros blasted the visiting Tampines Rovers, 5-0, at the raucous Pana-ad Park and Stadium for the home side's first win in the group stage of the 2017 AFC Cup.

The former A-League campaigner curled the ball towards the right post, evading everyone including Tampines keeper Izwan Mahbud with only half a minute elapsed in the contest. Bienvenido Marañón then doubled the goal count 24 minutes later as he beat two Tampines outfielders and an out-of-position Izwan, flicking the rubber towards the open goal mouth.

The onslaught was not over at the first half as Manny Ott made it 3-nil with a screamer just outside the box at the 38th minute.

The goalfest resumed in the next 45 minutes as Marañón completed a brace at the 64th minute mark, his chip sailing just above the keeper. Finally, Fernando Rodríguez capped the slaughter 18 minutes to go in regulation, receiving the ball inside the box, the assist courtesy of Jeffrey Christiaens.

With this victory, the Philippine side currently tops Group G with four points as its opponent stayed stuck at three points.

In the other group match, Hà Nội and FELDA United played to a 1-1 draw in rain-drenched Shah Alam with the latter were forced to share the points with the Vietnamese outfit.
