MANILA -- Make it two wins in as much games in the second round for La Salle, after another workmanlike 2-0 blanking of UE to start the Sunday football action this afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Stadium

Hans-Peter Smit's men scored on each half to register their first winning streak of the season,

The first half of the game forebode well for the Green Archers as they dominated the proceedings and took a big chunk of the possession.

With Hans Smit's men on the stranglehold of the ball, there should have been several chances already to score the goal early in the game however, they failed to make the most of it as the team lacked the services from the midfield to their forwards.

The breakthrough came in the 27th minute as Marcus Garcia met Nace Gonzales' corner with a spectacular overhead kick.

UE also came up with their own chances but their efforts were enough for Kerbi Almonte to deal with as the half ended with La Salle holding the slim advantage.

It was all La Salle again at the restart as they had more of the solid chances. The continued pressure was rewarded as they registered their second goal of the game courtesy of Jose Montelibano.

With a more comfortable lead, DLSU focused on playing it safe with more assured passing and cautious offense as time expired, eventually overtaking NU and UST in the standings as they provisionally take the fourth position on 11 points, one ahead of the Bulldogs and the Growling Tigers who will play Adamson later.

UE will face another monumental task in seeking their first win of the second round as they face a daunted State U on Thursday at Moro Lorenzo Field while DLSU will next face powerhouse FEU next Saturday at Rizal Stadium.
