By Ricky Manliguis

SAN JUAN-- And the Final Four dream is alive for Far Eastern U.

The Lady Tamaraws kept its slim playoff hopes alive, snapping its two-game losing skid with a clinical 25-14, 25-18, 27-25 win over already-eliminated University of the East in the first game of Wednesday action in the UAAP Season LXXIX women's volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena.

Bernadeth Pons and Jeanette Villareal fired 11 points apiece in leading the FEU offensive, but had to endure a stubborn UE stand in the third set to take the game in just an hour and 21 minutes.

Team skipper Remy Palma also made her presence felt, adding nine markers for FEU, whicha also dominated the attacking department, 35-25.

FEU enjoyed a 21-18 lead in the third, but the Lady Warriors battled back to tie the game at 25. Palma then blocked a Seth Rodriguez attempt, before  Mary Ann Mendrez sealed UE's doom with an error on the offensive.

The ladies from Morayta are just a full game behind National University and University of the Philippines for the fourth and final play-off spot, with two games left in the elimination round.

Incidentally, it will have the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Maroons as its last two opponents. It will meet the former on Saturday, with the match-up with the latter coming a week later.
