PASIG--With the SEABA Championship exactly a month from now, Coach Chot Reyes told some sportswriters present during the Gilas practice at the Meralco Gym on Wednesday night that he has begun checking out the other six participating teams in the said tournament.

"We've scouted a lot of our opponents," said Reyes.

While Gilas is still expected to lord over the regional tournament, where the champion will gain entry to the FIBA Asia Cup later this year, the competition is now a far cry than the Philippines' previous hosting in 2001, in which a lineup composed of MBA stars simply overpowered the entire field.

Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand have made a huge revamp to their respective national team programs especially when the ABL was founded in 2009.

Thailand is looming as the biggest threat to Gilas' title-retention bid especially if the team will be successful in having either Saigon Heat star Moses Morgan or Eastern Long Lion Tyler Lamb.

"We're not taking anyone lightly. We are preparing for everybody," continued Reyes.
