PASAY—TNT staved off a late Mahindra run to take an 86-84 decision in the first game of the PBA Commissioner's Cup anniversary offering at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday night.

The Floodbusters pushed the KaTropa to the limit but could not complete the upset as they failed to convert in the end.

TNT looked to pull away in the second quarter, scoring 29 points and opening a 47-38 halftime lead.

But Mahindra showed resilience in the second half and took a 77-75 lead with 6:49 left in the game.

The KaTropa took the lead for good after an 8-1 run gave them an 83-78 cushion.

The Floodbusters still put up a fight after a shot from LA Revilla that chipped the lead down to three, but they could only get a point, a split from Alex Mallari, from thereon as they missed two potential go-ahead triples.

RR Pogoy kept the window open for Mahindra as he only made a split from the line that upped the lead to three with 12 seconds left.

But Mallari instead went for a quick two that he missed badly, and Donte Greene sealed the win with two free throws. Keith Wright sank a bank shot from the outside for the final tally.

Greene finished with 24 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks for TNT, which won its fourth straight game.

Wright, on the other hand, had 26 points, 13 caroms, four assists, and two steals for Mahindra.
