Adamson squeaks out OT win over Arellano

By Ivan Saldajeno

SAN JUAN, MM—Adamson needed overtime before downing Arellano, 61-56, in the nightcap of Day 1 of the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Monday.

The Soaring Falcons survived a hard-fought, low scoring affair against the Chiefs, the finalists from last year, to somehow complete an opening day full of upsets.

Koko Pingoy played hero for Adamson as he made a three-pointer that forced overtime and the go-ahead layup with 58.3 seconds left in the extension.

Adamson's defense then forced Kent Salado to fire a desperation shot from near half-court as shotclock expired that he badly missed.

Papi Sarr sealed the victory with a three-point play with three seconds remaining.

Dawn Ochea notched 14 markers and six boards, while rookie Tyrus Hill added 10 points and four caroms for the Falcons.

Salado finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists for the Chiefs.
