By Ivan Saldajeno

SAN JUAN, MM--UP once again made a statement in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup, beating CSB, 77-70, at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Sunday.

This time, it was Paul Desiderio who shone for the Fighting Maroons, who held on despite slowing down nearing halftime.

After a hot first quarter that saw UP scoring 28 points, CSB limited the team to only nine points in the second quarter and cut the lead to just three, 37-34, at halftime.

The Maroons regained control in the second half and never looked back.

Desiderio made all but one of his four tries from long range and finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds with two assists and one block for UP.

Clement Leutcheu tallied 18 markers, 14 rebounds, two blocks, and one steal for CSB, which lost for the fourth straight time following a tournament-opening win.
