MANILA--The Golden State Warriors are now a win away from setting a historic NBA playoff run after rallying late to trounce the Cleveland Cavaliers, 118-113, in Game 3 of the NBA Finals at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Thursday (Philippine Time).
Kevin Durant set the tone for Golden State's endgame rally as the team scored the last 11 points of the game to go 3-0 up in the Finals and 15-0 overall in the playoffs.
Down 107-113 with 3:09 left, Steph Curry sparked the Warriors' final push with a layup with 2:19 remaining to cut the deficit down to four.
Durant then took over, scoring seven straight points including the go-ahead triple with 45.3 seconds left that gave them the lead, 116-113, with 12.9 seconds to go.
Andre Iguodala then pulled a huge defensive gem by blocking LeBron James' three-point attempt and forcing him to a turnover with 10.4 seconds on the clock. Curry sealed the win with two free throws.
Durant finished with 31 points, eight rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block, while Klay Thompson added 30 points, six rebounds, and two assists for Golden State, which can complete the first 16-0 sweep of the entire NBA postseason on Saturday (Philippine Time) back at "The Q".
Three days after achieving a triple-double, Curry chipped in another double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds with six assists and two steals.
Draymond Green came close to a triple-double after making eight points, eight rebounds, and seven assists with one steal and one block.
James also came up short of a triple-double after tallying 39 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists with one steal and one block for Cleveland.
Kevin Love also flirted with a double-double after making 13 rebounds and nine points with one assist and a franchise playoff-high six steals for Cleveland. Kyrie Irving added 38 markers.
