Manila tries to regain top spot at Ilocos

By Ivan Saldajeno

QUEZON CITY--Meralco-Manila looks to go back to its winning ways as the club battles Ilocos United at the Quirino Stadium in Bantay, Ilocos Sur on Saturday.

While still having an unbeaten record after seven matches, Manila was held to draws in its last two outings, the recent being a 1-1 stalemate at home against Laguna last Saturday.

The said result plus a Marikina win against Cebu also at the Rizal Memorial Stadium the night later pushed the Marikina side on top of the standings with 18 points compared to Manila's 17.

However, Manila, which actually has a match at hand, can momentarily go back to first place with a road win at Ilocos.

However, the visiting side may need to exert more effort for the win as Manila had to rally back to beat Ilocos in their first meeting on May 13.
