By Ricky Manliguis

MANILA—Teytey Teodoro exploded in the clutch as Jose Rizal U booked its first win by grounding Perpetual Help, 68-54, in the first game of Friday action of Season 93 of the NCAA men's seniors basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Teodoro spearheaded a spirited JRU endgame push, pumping in eight of his 26 points in the team's 14-5 windup. He capped off his heroics with a step-back triple off Keith Pido for a 66-52 edge in the last two minutes.

JRU thus bounced back from its stinging loss last Tuesday for  a 1-1 record, while inflicting the Altas its second loss in as many games.

The spitfire guard also finished with seven rebounds and three assists before fouling out with 1:13 left in the game.

Abdel Poutouchi and Gio Lasquety provided the spark off the bench, collecting 13 and 11 markers, respectively.

Prince Eze recorded a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds, but he failed to bail out the Altas after losing their opening game by forfeiture.
