MANILA--The Philippines' stint in the FIBA U18 3x3 World Cup came to an abrupt end on Sunday as the team fell prey to Belgium, 18-14, in the quarterfinals in Chengdu, China.

Vincent Peeters dropped a huge deuce with less than two minutes left that broke a 12-all tie that turned out to be the game-winner as the Belgians continued their Cinderella run in the tournament while putting an end to that of the Filipinos, who are in the playoffs for the first time.

Belgium will face Slovenia, a 20-18 overtime winner over Ukraine in another quarterfinal, in the semifinals.
