MAKATI--The Philippine MMA scene suffered a huge blow when Rocky Batolbatol died in a road accident early Sunday.
The Mindanao Ultimate Mixed Martial Arts, where the Bacolod-born Batolbatol who resided in Cagayan De Oro was a part of, first reported the incident and was confirmed by One Championship, where he was signed, later Sunday.
Batolbatol made a successful transition from boxing to MMA, scoring five straight wins to start his career in the latter.
However, he suffered three consecutive defeats when he joined One.
Batolbatol was set to take on Sunoto at One: Conquest of Kings in Surabaya, but the said fight card scheduled for Saturday night was postponed on Friday or eight days before the event.
