MANILA--Is Kia letting go of its number one pick?

That seems the case as the Picanto are set to give up the said draft pick to the San Miguel Beermen with one week left before the Oct. 29 Rookie Draft.

Kia initially agreed with SMB in a trade that would swap the first overall pick for Jay-R Reyes, Rashawn McCarthy, Keith Agovida, and the latter's own first round pick, which is slated to become the 12th overall pick.

But with the said proposal getting a flak from the other team owners and even the fans when news broke out about the offer on Saturday, the Beermen reportedly reshaped their trade package and now offered Yancy De Ocampo, Ronald Tubid, and Matt Rosser for the Picanto's number one pick while keeping McCarthy and the 12th pick in the deal.

The PBA board is set to discuss the said matter on Thursday when it convenes.

Chris Standhardinger is tipped to become the first pick of the draft, although selecting either Kiefer Ravena or Jeron Teng ahead of him is also an option.
