PASAY CITY -- UST bucked an early blitz in the opening frame to hold off La Salle, 68-56 to maintain their hold in second spot in the second round of the UAAP Women's Basketball tournament today at the MOA Arena

Not even a wrecked whiteboard in the final 49 ticks of the game deter the Tigresses of Haydee Ong, who pounded the Lady Archers in the middle quarters to win their sixth game in a row to improve to 8-1.

"I'm just airing my frustration to the girls na we should finish strong all the time. Even with a big lead we should not relax," a relieved Ong said after the game.

Anjel Anies continued her impressive performance as a starter as she lead UST with 15 points, eight rebounds and 4 assists for a season sweep of last season's runners up.

Joehanna Arciga pounded a game-high 20 points but the freefall continued for Pocholo Villanueva as they lost back-to-back games to go down at 2-6.

La Salle started surprisingly strong with an 11-0 run but UST fought back to reduce the deficit to five after the first quarter.

That was all the Lady Archers wrote as the Tigresses growled in the middle quarters, leading by as much as 19 in the third quarter to seal La Salle's fate.
