PARAÑAQUE—With all the uncertainties regarding whether Chito Narvasa stays as PBA commissioner or not, incoming board of governors chairman Ramoncito Fernandez is still thinking about the fans.

So he bats for a 2018 season that they will remember.

"With the help of the board, we will make sure that the PBA will be more relevant and exciting," the NLEX governor vowed during the league's preseason press conference at the Okada Manila Golden Ballroom on Wednesday.

In fact, he is dedicating the opening ceremonies on Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to the supporters who are with the PBA through thick and thin.

"The next few days will really be for the fans," Fernandez continued.

The league will formally open its 2018 season, its 43rd overall, with a ceremony at 4 p.m. before San Miguel and Phoenix collide at 6:45 p.m.
