MANILA -- Ceres-Negros emerged victorious against Shan United, winning 4-3 in the penalty shootout, to advance to the next preliminary round of the 2018 AFC Champions League.

The home squad had two of their attempts during the shootout go high as the Busmen made all of theirs to set up a meeting with Brisbane Roar in Australia next week.

After going scoreless in regulation, both squads netted one each seven minutes apart.

Stephan Schröck's looper from the left flank at the 92nd minute hit William Nyakwe, changing the ball's course towards the far post for the first goal of the match.

Patrick Asare then equalized the count in the 99th minute with an attempt from outside the box that was out of Toni Doblas' reach.

Schröck had a chance to win it at extra time, but his shot on a wide-open goal mouth at the 114th minute veered right and bounced off the post.
