TAGUIG--In what would be a historic moment in MMA, One Championship will be broadcasting some of its matches live on Twitter.

As announced during the press conference of One: Kings of Courage at the Fairmont Hotel in Jakarta on Thursday, the MMA promotion reached an agreement with the social media site to have the first five matches of the said fight card set for Saturday night at the Jakarta Convention Center to be aired live on the said social media platform.

Rene Catalan's match against Peng Xue Wen is the second bout scheduled in the card, basically making the said clash a part of the live Twitter broadcast.

"This will allow us to further showcase the beauty of martial arts to a global audience. This partnership signifies the two companies’ commitment to developing martial arts in Asia and extend the reach of our exciting live and digital content," said One chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong. "Martial arts fans, particularly those on the Twitter platform, will be able to enjoy free One Championship bouts while engaging in real-time conversation."

"We are excited to team up with them to increase their reach to millions of fans around Asia and the rest of the world," added Maurizio Barbieri, Twitter's head of sports partnerships for Southeast Asia. "More than ever before, if you can’t make it ringside, Twitter will be the best place to follow the action live, right when it is happening.

The rest of the fight card, which includes the main event pitting Tiffany Teo and Xiong Jingnan for the inaugural One women's strawweight championship, will be aired at One's live stream platform and its media partners with ABSCBN S&A broadcasting the main card live at 10:30 p.m.
