Blackwater catches fire in second half to bludgeon Kia

QUEZON CITY--Blackwater sizzled in the second half on both ends of the floor to add more miseries to Kia, 95-76, in their PBA Philippine Cup battle at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday night.

The Elite dropped 30 points on the Picanto in the third quarter while limiting them to only 11 in the final frame to complete the blowout.

Mike DiGregorio led Blackwater, which moved up to 4-5 and in a tie with Phoenix for eighth place in the standings, with 21 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Blackwater will clash with NLEX on Sunday night at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue.

Poy Erram added a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds with three assists and one block.

Mac Belo returned to play and chipped in eight markers, making four of his first five shots, with three boards and two steals.

Ronald Tubid exploded quickly off the bench and finished with 22 points on six triples with eight boards and one swat, while Reden Celda also scorched for 21 markers, five caroms, one dime, one steal, and one block, but they were not enough as Kia officially got the boot.

Also in effect, Magnolia, which plays GlobalPort later Friday, Alaska, and San Miguel locked in quarterfinal seats with them chasing the two twice-to-beat advantages.
