Blackwater stops Phoenix in crucial tussle

MANILA--The Blackwater Elite went on to defeat the Phoenix Fuelmasters, 83-78, to keep their playoff hopes for the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup alive.

Blackwater put on the breaks on the Fuelmasters in the final period as JP Erram, John Pinto, and Mike Digregorio acocunted for six unanswered points, handing their squad an 80-75 advantage with 2:04 left in the game.

There was balanced production among the Elite as Digregorio, Mac Belo, and Raymar Jose had 14 points each, while Erram and Roi Sumang chalked up 12 apiece. The Ateneo de Manila alum also put up 19 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks.

Jason Perkins paced Phoenix with 17 markers on 8-of-11 field goal shooting. RJ Jazul and Jeff Chan had identical 13-point outputs, while Doug Kramer and Gio Alolino combined for 21 points and 15 boards from off the bench.
