MANILA--GlobalPort tries to continue its newfound winning ways as the club battles Magnolia in the nightcap of the PBA Philippine Cup doubleheader at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Friday.

The Batang Pier and the Hotshots will slug it out at 7 p.m., right after the 4:30 p.m. curtain-raiser between the Blackwater Elite and the Kia Picanto.

GlobalPort shocked TNT, 99-84, on Wednesday night at "The Big Dome" to climb to the Top 8, and now, its sight is on breaching into the Top 6, which will keep it out of the twice-to-beat disadvantage in the quarterfinals.

However, up next for the Batang Pier is a Hotshots squad that looks to snap a two-game slide and stay alive in the race for a Top 2 spot that will give the team a twice-to-beat advantage in the next round.

Meanwhile, survival is the name of the game for Blackwater in its battle against Kia.

Currently in 10th place at 3-5, the Elite can force a tie with the Phoenix Fuel Masters for eighth place at 4-5 with a win over the lowly Picanto, who now need a miracle for them to sneak in to the playoffs.
