MANILA--Good Friday was indeed good for Gilas Pilipinas' women's 3x3 team as they went 2-0 in Pool C of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup main draw preliminaries at the OCBC Square in Singapore.

Gilas, seeded 11th in the tournament and had to go through the qualifying draw on Maundy Thursday, pulled off the biggest upset in the women's division by blasting third-seeded Mongolia, 19-8, to open their pool stage campaign.

Gilas then sealed the sweep by beating Malaysia, 17-10, later in the night.

Jhazmin Joson led the way for Gilas in both games, finishing with 11 points against Mongolia and six more against Malaysia.

Gilas will face Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals on Sunday.

Chinese Taipei clinched its place in the quarterfinals after beating the host team, 18-8, for the second seed in Pool A.

China, which swept Pool A, finds itself in a grudge match against Mongolia, which settled for the second seed in Pool C, in the second quarterfinal set.
