SMB drubs Meralco to open semis series

QUEZON CITY--San Miguel proved why they are the top seed in the PBA Philippine Cup playoffs, dealing Meralco a 121-97 beating in Game 1 of their semifinal series on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Beermen waxed hot in the first quarter, opening a 33-17 lead over the Bolts, and they never looked back from there.

CJ Perez led SMB with 25 points, five rebounds, four assists, four steals, and one block, while Rodney Brondial added 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting, 11 rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Chris Banchero put up 17 markers, two boards, five dimes, and one steal for Meralco.
