PHNOM PENH - No more PH vs. PH this time around
Current world champions Echo's hopes for the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup trophy are now over as Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol and the rest of ONIC Esports deal them a 0-3 heartbreak inside the AEON Mall on Saturday.
ONIC ended Echo's six-match win streak in MLBB's major international events, the latter's first loss since their 2-3 loss against RSG Slate Philippines last May 5.
Kairi's mechanics with his signature Fanny pick proves to be Echo's main problem in Game 1 as he went to get the MVP nod with a 5/1/2 performance capped by a lord take by Calvin "CW" Winata while the rest of ONIC decimates Echo around the lord pit..
Despite Karl Gabriel "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno's signature Lancelot in his hands for the second time, it still wasn't enough as Muhammad Satrya "Butsss" Sanubari's Masha led ONIC to most of their clashes, including a crucial lord steal, followed by a four-man takedown in Echo's purple buff pit.
Butts earned the MVP nod with a 3/1/4 outing, while Sanz also impressed with a 6/2/6 performance with the Kadita.
Nicky "Kiboy" Fernando and the rest of ONIC sealed the deal as despite a 39-minute back-and-forth for both teams, the ONIC roamer gave his teammates crucial sets, including a flicker and Tyrant's Rage combo towards three Echo members in the top lane.
KarlTzy tried to have a backdoor play for the Orcas but he saw five ONIC members pouncing on his Fredrinn instead to wipe them out, the latter taking the win and Kiboy his MVP honors with a 2/4/19 performance..
ONIC will see a familiar face in Blacklist International in the finals on Sunday, while Echo will see Cambodian side Burn x Flash in the third place match later this day.
