QUEZON CITY - MPL Philippines' runners-up Blacklist International falls to the lower bracket of the M5 World Championships after a five-game thriller versus tournament favorites ONIC Esports on Saturday.

It was a back and forth affair for both teams in the upper bracket quarterfinals, with one kill exchanged for one objective thrown by both sides that ended in a 12-2 annihilation from the yellow hedgehogs.

The Codebreakers found themselves up 1-0 against the tournament favorites with Stephen "Sensui" Castillo's Guinevere tallied four kills and eleven assists during the 30 minute affair, while Renejay "Renejay" Barcase led all players in the assist department with 14.

However, ONIC catched up and eventually led the series after Calvin "CW" Winata went gunz ablazing in Game 2 with 7/1/6 with the Claude, and a 9/2/5 domination with the Wanwan in Game 3 that almost ended in Blacklist's side if not for Nicky "Kiboy" Fernando's Minotaur's game-winning set.

Kiel "Oheb" Soriano and the rest of the Codebreakers responded in Game 4 with a 10-1 domination within 15 minutes, with the prized gold laner scoring four kills and four assists while Edward Jay "Edward" Dapadap dealing two kills and five assists.

It was a different story in Game 5, with ONIC's captain Muhammad Satrya "Butsss" Sanubari securing game-winning sets while tallying one kill and nine assists with the Terizla.

Blacklist International, facing potential elimination, will next see Turkish champs Fire Flux Impunity in a group stage rematch in the lower bracket.
