MANILA--Converge now has an import for the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

No, it's not Dwight Howard as many fans are clamoring for.

The FiberXers signed Cheick Diallo to back them up for the mid-season conference that begins on Nov. 27.

Assistant coach Charles Tiu confirmed the development on Wednesday after posting a photo of him with Diallo during their practice at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong.

Like Howard, Diallo made the NBA, being drafted 33rd overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2016 before he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans right after the draft.

Despite dropping to the second round of the draft, Diallo, a one-and-done player from Kansas, showed that he belongs in the big league as his role as one of New Orleans' solid contributors off the bench continued to grow.

In 2019, the Phoenix Suns plucked him out of free agency, where he tallied his NBA career high.

Diallo then took his talents in Europe, playing in Russia and Spain.

He would then become teammates with former Phoenix Fuel Master Matthew Wright at the Kyoto Hannaryz camp in the Japan B.League for two seasons before joining Osos De Manati in the Puerto Rican league earlier this year, a team he led to the finals.

Although the PBA is now allowing teams to sign up any import regardless of height for the Commissioner's Cup, Converge decided to recruit Diallo, who would have easily met the old height limit for the said conference at six feet eight inches.
