TAGUIG—Scottie Thompson, arguably one of the hardest-working guards in the PBA right now, cemented his young yet stellar legacy in the league when he was named among the newest members of its Greatest Players list.

Thompson, who was the PBA MVP in 2021, earned a place in the said legends list due to a longstanding rule wherein past MVPs automatically earn their spots.

However, his inclusion was among the hot debates that surfaced overnight following the formal announcement during Starting Lineup on Wednesday.

In his first public appearance since the Greatest Players announcement on Thursday, Thompson said he believes he has done enough to merit the award.

"It's a testament of my hard work kasi kahit papaano, alam ko naman kung gaano ko pinaghirapan yung ginagawa ko sa buhay, on or off the court," Thompson said on Thursday when he renewed his ties with sports betting site Arena Plus at the said app's office here.

While he acknowledged the reactions from the fans upon the announcement, Thompson said that being named there among more than 30 players in consideration is a blessing for him.

"Maraming deserving, pero I'm truly blessed na masama doon. And it's all kay God na nangyari ito," Thompson further said.

Thompson will remain as one of Arena Plus' brand ambassadors even as he will be joined by Ginebra teammates RJ Abarrientos and Justin Brownlee.
