Sumang-Less Red Warriors Shock Bulldogs

By Ivan Saldajeno

No Roi Sumang? No problem! With the King Warrior benched the entire game due to disciplinary reasons, the other UE Red Warriors stepped up and stun the NU Bulldogs, 64-55, in the nightcap of the UAAP men's basketball games at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Charles Mammie sparked the Red Warriors' onslaught as they bucked a slow first half to turn back the Bulldogs.

Mammie led the UE charge with 22 points and ten rebounds. Three more Red Warriors tallied eight points each.

Gelo Alolino scored 13 points, while Troy Rosario added 12 for NU.

Coach Derrick Pumaren later revealed that Sumang went out on Friday night but returned the morning after, missing the team's practice.

Sumang did not explain the reason for departing, and he was sanctioned for the action.
