Arellano and CSB engaged in a high-scoring fourth quarter before the latter hacked out a 106-97 win in the lone Saturday NCAA seniors basketball game at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City
The Blazers, now at 9-5, outscored the Chiefs, 35-26, in the payoff period to pull themselves to within a half-game of the Chiefs and the idle JRU Heavy Bombers, who are both at 9-4, for second place in the team standings.
CSB, however, had to pull away for good in the last five minutes of the match against gritty Arellano to secure the vital win.
Paolo Taha led the Blazers with 27 points, while Mark Romero added 23. Dioncee Holts and Zach Nicholls had a breakout game for Arellano, scoring 31 and 23 respectively.
