Changwon Sakers coach Kim Jin thinks that Ginebra is the Philippine equivalent of his squad ahead of their preseason friendly on Tuesday.

"I feel that the Changwon Sakers is a close comparison to Ginebra," Kim said during the press conference of their match at the Treston Gym in Taguig City.

Kim cited the Gin Kings' crowd following and their passion for the game as the reasons why he thought that his opponents are in a way the "Sakers of the Philippines".

The Sakers, who joined the KBL in 1994, also have a huge crowd following of their own as they led in average attendance in eight of the ten seasons they were in the league.

On the other hand, Kim, a frequent visitor in the Philippines, also lauded the Filipinos' love for basketball and even liked the way they play.

He said that he goes to the country annually after the KBL season and watches PBA games to learn new plays that he can share to his players back in Changwon.

Meanwhile, Ginebra coach Jeffrey Cariaso said that he is glad that his team was chosen to face Changwon as part of the latter's tuneup outings.

"We're very happy that they chose to play here in Manila to prepare for their season," Cariaso said.

The Gin Kings and the Sakers battle it out in the Asian Basketball Showdown on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
