UAAP Commissioner Andy Jao upheld Ateneo's 68-64 win against FEU on Saturday after he dismissed the latter's protest.
In his reply to Coach Nash Racela, Jao cited that referees Mark Garcia and Maynard Ballecer clearly signaled a three-pointer when Von Pessumal hit the corner shot that became the ground for the protest and that the scorer made a mistake in scoring.
He also clarified to Racela that a scoring error can also be corrected during a timeout and right before the final buzzer, which was what the officials did.
However, Jao revealed that the technical committee seated at a courtside corner instead of its usual spot at the middle part of the arena during the Saturday games.
Jao cited the installment of additional seats as the reason behind the transfer of the TechCom's position.
FEU has yet to make its next move regarding the commissioner's answer to its protest.
However, should the Tamaraws decide to respect Jao's decision, they will take on the De La Salle Green Archers in Game 1 of a virtual best-of-3 Final Four series on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
