By Dugout Philippines

JRU's early game defense proved vital as it avenges its first round loss to Lyceum, 67-43, in the nightcap of the NCAA seniors' games at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.

The Heavy Bombers limited the Pirates to only six points in the first quarter and forced rookie sensation Joseph Gabayni to foul trouble for the entire first half.

JRU took cruise control of the game and opened a 26-point spread before settling for the 24-point winning margin.

Michael Mabulac led the Heavy Bombers, who now tie the Perpetual Help Altas in third place, with 13 points and ten rebounds.
