Two late goals broke the hearts of the Philippine Azkals as Myanmar won the Philippine Football Peace Cup with a 3-2 win at the championship game at the Rizal Memorial Football Field in Manila City.
Kyaw Ko Ko opened the scoring in the final with a beautiful goal off an Azkals' defensive miscue at the eighth minute.
Chris Greatwich had a great chance to get the goal back moments later, but the Burmese goalkeeper saved his shot.
After failed Azkals' attacks, Daisuke Sato tied the match at the 49th minute with a rocket goal from outside the box.
Phil Younghusband got a golden opportunity to give the Azkals the lead after a penalty was given. Younghusband struck the spot kick to the goal, and the Philippines is up, 2-1.
Simone Rota thought he sealed the Azkals' win with a goal at the 85th minute, but the linesman called the play offside and Rota's goal was nullified.
Myanmar tied the game with a goal in the first minute of stoppage time and forced extra time.
Ten minutes into the first extra time, the Burmese team scored the go-ahead goal as the Azkals failed to connect on scoring opportunities in the end.
Myanmar denied the Philippines its third Peace Cup title and won for the first time in the last three meetings.
