The UE Red Warriors' UAAP season got prolonged for at least another game as they nipped the UST Growling Tigers, 78-73, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Red Warriors pulled away for good in the final 20 minutes of play to set up a battle with the NU Bulldogs for the last Final Four spot on Saturday at the said venue.

The Tigers went up, 12-5, six minutes into the match before the Warriors scored ten of the first period's last 15 points to come to within two, 15-17.

UE scored the first eight points of the second quarter to lead, 23-17.

But UST crawled back and reclaimed the lead, 31-26, after a 14-3 run.

The Red Warriors ended the first half on a 10-4 run to take a 36-35 halftime edge.

They threatened to pull away in the early stages of the third quarter after scoring the first six markers of the period.

The Growling Tigers, however, fought back anew and cut the lead to three after four straight points from Karim Abdul, 46-43.

UE then outscored UST, 14-7, in the rest of the third quarter to lead by ten, 60-50, entering the fourth.

The Red Warriors would hold on to the lead in the entire duration of the payoff period to secure the win.
