San Miguel led from wire to wire to down Rain Or Shine, 87-79, in the nightcap of the PBA games at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The Beermen immediately built a double-digit advantage at the end of the first quarter and led by as much as 14, 49-35, in the third quarter.
But the Elasto Painters slowly crawled back and came to within two, 77-79, late in the fourth quarter.
But a jumper from Arwind Santos and two free throws from Marcio Lassiter sparked the game-ending 8-2 run for San Miguel to seal the win.
Santos and Junemar Fajardo each had 16 points to lead the Beermen.
Santos added 12 rebounds, while Fajardo grabbed nine of his own.
Raymund Almazan scored 12 points for the Elasto Painters, who played the rest of the game without Paul Lee, who suffered a knee injury early into the game.
