Hurting Cardinals to forfeit match versus Bombers

By Dugout Philippines

The Mapua Cardinals are not just reeling from the absence of their suspended players due to their infamous brawl with the EAC Generals but also from injuries.

The Cardinals will forfeit their NCAA game against the JRU Heavy Bombers despite the reactivation of Jerome Canaynay, Darrel Magsigay, and Ronnel Villasenor from their one-game suspensions.

Magsigay and Villasenor will still sit out the game due to respective injuries in the tomillo and the lower back.

C.J. Isit, on the other hand, is still recovering from a fractured cheekbone caused by John Tayongtong's punch that escalated the brawl last week.

With that, only Canaynay, Jessie Saitanan, Joseph Eriobu, and Jeson Cantos will be available for Mapua in the game supposed to be played at 9:00 AM as the rest of the team still serve their respective suspensions for their involvement in the brawl last week.

“As much as we want to play, we only have four players so we are forfeiting our game against Jose Rizal,” said Mel Divina, Mapua's NCAA ManCom representative.

Divina, however, assured that the Cards will play their last game against CSB on Monday with the return of Exequiel Biteng, Andoy Estrella, James Galoso, and Justin Serrano from their two-game bans.

On the other hand, the forfeiture will automatically give JRU its 11th win of the season to move up to a tie with Perpetual Help for third place.

The Letran Knights and the Lyceum Pirates will clash in the now lone seniors match at 1:00 PM.
