It's a long-timer versus a first-timer in the other NCAA Final Four showdown as third-seeded JRU takes on second-seeded Arellano. Here's my lookahead to the game.
History: Obviously, this is the first the Heavy Bombers and the Chiefs face off in an NCAA playoff game. But both teams have different stories. For the Bombers, this is their best chance to end a 42-year drought for a men's basketball title. For the Chiefs, who own a twice-to-beat edge in this showdown, this is the game that could show that they, a known strong squad in the mid-majors, belong to the NCAA.
What Now: Arellano punched its first Final Four stint in its six-year stay in the league after beating San Beda on a last second layup by Ralph Salcedo. However, the Red Lions got back at the Chiefs in the playoff for first place. JRU, on the other hand, needed to stave off a late San Sebastian rally to get a return trip to the semis. The Heavy Bombers turned back the Perpetual Help Altas to capture third place.
Key Match-Up: Keith Agovida vs. Philip Paniamogan-Two wingers with contrasting styles are in my key match-up. Paniamogan is expected to bury the Chiefs with his outside sniping. The high-flying Agovida, on the other hand, will use his quickness to drive to the lane and go for the easy shots.
