For Nestor Sapida, this year's NU squad that won the UAAP title is more privileged than the 1954 UAAP champion team in which he was a part of.

The 5-11 former King Bulldog told Dugout Philippines that the evolution of the players plus how the new management, led by the Sys, handled them really helped them a lot in ending a 60-year wait for another UAAP diadem.

"Malalaki na ng mga player ngayon," said Sapida, who despite being barely less than six feet had to play center being the tallest in the group then led by national team player Tony Villamor.

The team's current point guard, Gelo Alolino, stands at six feet flat, while 6-7 players Alfred Aroga and Troy Rosario man the interior.

Sapida, who now controls his family's funeral business, added, "Alagang-alaga sila ng management. Kami noon, ang binibigay sa amin eh PHP50-100. Eh kulang pa yun sa pangangailangan namin."

Coached by Skip Guinto, the Bulldogs trampled the FEU Tamaraws, 41-36, to capture their first UAAP championship.

Sixty years later, NU once again triumphed over FEU to capture the league crown.
