Pau Gasol congratulated the UNICEF and the Philippines for their continuous efforts in the recovery of the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (international name Haiyan).

In a copy of the video received by Dugout, the Chicago Bulls star, who is also a UNICEF ambassador, said, "I'm happy for being one of those thousands of people that have supported this great work."

However, he later said that the relief drive is not yet done.

"In spite of the clear progress, the work is far from complete," Gasol said.

He added, "The recovery and reconstruction for millions of people are not possible within a few months or even a year. It needs long-term commitment."

Gasol asked for the continuous help of people for the complete rehabilitation of the storm-hit areas.

Yolanda struck most of the eastern parts of the Philippines, especially Leyte, on December last year.
