A legacy in the PBA is about to be rebuilt as the San Mig Coffee Mixers reverted their name to the Purefoods brand and will be known as the Purefoods Star Hotshots.

The Hotshots officially announced the name change during a press launch in Quezon City.

The moniker tweak came at the heels of the franchise completing a grand slam last season and winning four straight titles overall.

Purefoods has been a household name in the PBA ever since it joined in 1988.

The San Miguel Corporation bought Purefoods Hormel Company at the turn of the century, paving the way for the expansion of Purefoods' products.

It became imminent when the team which was known as the Purefoods TJ Giants was renamed to the B-Meg Llamados and eventually the San Mig Coffee Mixers.
