The San Beda Red Lions almost let a huge lead slip but still held on to an 81-75 win against the Perpetual Help Altas in their NCAA Final Four clash at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The win automatically put the top-seeded Red Lions to the NCAA Finals
The Red Lions led, 44-18, at halftime and seemed to cruise to an easy victory.
But the Altas slowly chipped the edge down and came to within eight, 47-55, with 8:37 left in the fourth quarter.
San Beda got back and rebuilt the double-digit advantage, 78-67, with 1:09 remaining.
But Perpetual Help unfurled an 8-2 run to cut the lead to five, 80-75, with 19.4 seconds to go.
The Red Lions scored a free throw on the other end, and the Altas fail to convert afterward.
