PBA Commissioner Chito Salud expressed his gladness after reporting that at least 35,000 people will attend the opening of the PBA's 40th season at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Salud said in his statement that was posted in the league's social media pages, "I am happy to report that our opening for the PBA's 40th season this Sunday is being met with enthusiastic response from our fans. I have been informed that 80 percent of the venue tickets have been sold, translating to some 35,000 fans already confirmed to attend."

Salud also expressed amusement in the huge turnout of the attendance.

"This is a huge number by any measure that can only become bigger as we get closer to opening day," he continued.

On the other hand, he said that the league is privileged for the opportunity given to the fans.

Salud said, "...we in the PBA feel privileged to have this opportunity to give our fans a treat--fans whose unwavering support have brought PBA to where it is today."

The commissioner concluded, "Maraming dapat pasalamatan pag dating sa istoryang PBA at ang nasa taluktok nito ay ang ating mga fans."

Rookie teams Blackwater and Kia face off at 3:00 PM, while Ginebra and Talk 'n Text collide at 5:30 PM on Sunday in the venue dubbed as the largest indoor arena in the world.
