UAAP Secretary-Treasurer Rod Roque mulled at a possibility of kicking off the league's 78th season by August.

In a report by The Philippine Star, Roque said that the chance of the UAAP to move its season opening a month later than the usual July start is "60-40".

However, he said that the matter will be tackled in a future board meeting.

The possible rescheduling of the opening of Season 78 is due to the move by five of the eight member colleges to move the opening of their academic years to either August or September to synchronize with that of the other ASEAN nations as part of the region's integration.

UP, the host for next season, is one of the five schools which made such move.
