Bolts take down Gin Kings for first-ever Antipolo win

By Dugout Philippines

The Meralco Bolts almost squandered a 14-point cushion but held on to a 109-99 win against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the nightcap of the PBA games at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

The Bolts led by as much as 14 in the third quarter behind the hot hands of Cliff Hodge, Gary David, and Mark Macapagal.

But the Gin Kings crawled back and came to within one, 86-87, early in the fourth quarter.

David, however, scored five points in succession to stretch the lead back to six, 92-86.

Meralco eventually upped the lead to nine, 103-94.

But Ginebra kept the game interesting after scoring five consecutive to cut the edge to four, 103-99.

The Bolts misfired on their next play, giving the Gin Kings another crack to inch closer.

But L.A. Tenorio missed a triple and Greg Slaughter badly bricked the follow-up.

Meralco sealed its very first win at the Antipolo arena with six straight points.
