Rain Or Shine bucked a poor third quarter showing to trounce GlobalPort, 86-83, at the resumption of the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The Elasto Painters built a 49-36 cushion after the first two quarters.
But the Batang Pier outscored them, 34-14, in the third to take a 70-63 advantage.
Rain Or Shine then opened the fourth period on a 13-2 run to retake the lead, 76-72.
Four straight GlobalPort points tied the game at 76 apiece later in the period.
Jeff Chan gave the Elasto Painters the lead again after scoring on a layup and a free throw for a three-point lead, 79-76
Keith Jensen kept the Batang Pier in the game with a field goal to cut the lead to one, 79-78.
But Chan answered with a triple to increase the lead to four, 82-78.
Jensen responded with another shot to trim the gap to two, 82-80.
Beau Belga momentarily stretched Rain Or Shine's lead to four before Stanley Pringle answered to bring it back to two.
Pringle had a chance to tie the match again.
But he missed on a rushed attempt only to be recovered by Yancy De Ocampo.
De Ocampo only made the first of his two free throws after a foul.
But Anthony Semerad grabbed the offensive rebound to give the Batang Pier a chance to get the lead.
But Alex Cabagnot missed a wild leaner, and the E-Painters were able to chop much time on the clock before getting fouled.
Paul Lee made two free throws to up the lead to three with 4.8 seconds left.
Cabagnot muffed a desperation heave from beyond the arc at the buzzer.
Chan had 16 points including the timely baskets in the crucial stages for Rain Or Shine.
