Despite missing some key players from their UAAP team, the De La Salle Green Archers breezed past the CEU Scorpions, 79-56, to win the Luzon Regional Championship of the PCCL at the FAITH Gym in Tanauan City.

With Norbert Torres, Arnold Van Opstal, and Almond Vosotros graduating and some more getting some rest, the Green Archers banked on Team B players Ben Mbala and Daryl Pascual to backstop leader Jeron Teng.

The Green Archers began the onslaught in the last six minutes of the first quarter and immediately deposed the Scorpions after leading by as much as 31.

The win catapulted La Salle to the Elite 8 round of the national collegiate tournament, being grouped with UAAP champion NU, NCAA runner-up Arellano, and CESAFI second placer USC in a certain quartet.

The other quarterfinal group has UAAP champion San Beda, UAAP runner-up FEU, CESAFI ruler SWU, and VisMin Regional winner UV.

Each team will face the teams from the other group, with the Green Lancers taking on the Cobras first on Thursday at the Cebu City Coliseum.
